Nothing is more frustrating than coming to the end of a long day, hopping into bed and not being able to sleep. Many products are available to aid in sleep, but if you are looking for something a little more natural, a cup of herbal tea may be just what the doctor ordered.

Perhaps best known and most available is Chamomile tea. Chamomile has been used for centuries as a mild sedative, to assist with digestion, and to relieve minor aches and pains. Combine chamomile with other herbs such as peppermint and passion flower to add to its relaxing qualities.

Valerian is another popular herb for sleep. Prescribed by Hippocrates to cure insomnia in his patients, valerian is a very effective remedy. Valerian can be made into a tea either alone or mixed with chamomile. Valerian does have a strong scent and it may evoke vivid dreams, so if you are new to this herb, use some caution.

Herbal teas are great for helping to relieve stress and help you get to sleep. Chamomile and valerian are great herbs for this purpose, but there are others as well. Some experimenting will help you find the best one for your situation.
